After Xmas

Well, its after Xmas. Finally.

Holidays were not too bad, got to spend extra time with my grandma. Sarah's aunts and cousins came into town and we were able to spend some good time with them, so that was nice. Eli had fun, he liked most of the toys he got from everyone. He didnt play with the paper as much as we expected though.

Last week I became an uncle. Our niece Evelyn was born 12/22/08 after a nice long ordeal.

Happy new year to everyone!

Christmas time

Christmas time is offically here. Only 9 more days til christmas.

Unfortuately along with this time of year comes snow and cold. And the inevitable spending time with family, though I admit not all of that is bad, just being locked inside with most of my family for the evening of Christmas Eve. Its only once a year and I still put up with it for my grandmas sake.

Well, to everyone I am not sure if I will hav a chance to post again before I travel to grandmas for the holiday, so in case I dont, everyone in the immortal words of Krusty the Clown have "a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, a Kwaazy Kwanzaa, and a dignified Ramadan. "

Breathing room

Well, my busy time at work is finally over and I have time to post again!

Things have been alright overall. Thanksgiving went on without any problems. The biggest thing that happened at all was I got a Nintendo Wii. Its great! Im just getting used to playing a couple of the games and I am already addicted.

I hope everyone had a good holiday week and good luck surviving December and the Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/New Years time coming up!

Busy

Well, its been a while since Ive been able to post. Work is really busy this time of year so it cuts down on my time to surf the net and post here. Couple more weeks of this then we should slow down.

Overall not too much has happened. I was in a car accident over the weekend. At the time it seemed relatively minor, but the other driver did over $5K in damage to my car and the estimate is still rising as they take apart my car more. Good thing it was her fault and her insurance gets to pay for everything including my rental car!

YAY!

Well, the election is over, mostly. Unless you live in GA, MN or AK. What a mess in those states, trust me, I live in MN.

Great thing America did on Tuesday electing Barack Obama. I think he will put us on track. As far off track as Bush has gotten us, it will take some time to get back, but I think he will lead us there. Congratulations to Barack Obama and his family and Joe Biden and his family. Congratulations to America as well for not succumbing to fear over this election.

What a mess the GOP has become. They need to figure out who they are and they need to do it within the next year before midterm elections. It could be worse for them if they cant figure it out.

I was sorry to hear about Obamas grandma, I am close to my grandma as well and cannot imagine what he was thinking on the biggest night of his life.

Election day

Its finally Election Day. One way or another it will be a historic election. Either we elect the first black president or the first female vice president.

So, regardless of who you vote for you should still vote, but if you are voting McCain, feel free to forget or just assume that he will lose and stay home anyways.

GOBAMA!

Same ol Same ol

Well, here it is...another Monday. Last week was pretty uneventful. The weekend wasnt much different.

Only two more weeks until the election.

Congrats to the Rays on making their first World Series, what a great story they have been this year. I still think the Phils will win in 6 or 7 games. Should be interesting regardless.

Palin on SNL was pretty funny. The best still might have been Mark Wahlberg and Andy Samberg.

Have a good week, hopefully I will post again this week.

Monday

Well, now its monday again. These seem to come around more than once in a week sometimes. My weekend was ok, though I seem to have come down with another cold already.

I finally finishing painting the garage. It only took a couple of months, but its done. I also got to golf for probably the last time this year. Ill take an 82 to close the year down. I played really well, with 3 birdies on the back nine. It makes me more excited to play more often next year.

Baseball is coming to a close. Basketball is just starting and football is in full swing. Its a nice time of year to be a sportsfan. Hopefully the Bulls can overcome their logjam in the backcourt and lack in the frontcourt and win some games. Hopefully the Bears can overcome their inability to play defense in the 4th quarter and win some more games. They are a couple of bad 4th quarters away from a 6-0 record. Oh well, thats sports.

Just 22 days and we can hopefully name Obama our new president and stop seeing all these damn political ads!

Its Thursday!

Well, the week is almost over. Nothing too eventful this week. Tonight is the premier of CSI, which im somewhat excited for. Its also the night that Saturday Night Live does a Thursday show, I guess its almost all politics. I hope Tina Fey is on!

Bones last night was pretty good. I enjoyed the intern of the week. Overall I would give the show B+. Some laughs, but nothing great, some intrigue but nothing spine tingly.

Criminal Minds was pretty good. Not great but good. I liked Luke Perry's character and wish they would have had him on a bit more. Over I would give it a B. It was more about the side characters and Reed and Prentiss, which is fine but more involvement of the rest of the team I think was needed.

CSI NY I really liked. It focused again more on Mac and had a pretty good story line. I would give it an A-.

The debate the other night was reasonably inconclusive which is not what McCain needed. I was pretty bored of the whole thing. Only 26 days left.

More politics

Well, tomorrow is the 2nd presidential debate. I am actually looking forward to not really watching it. I can catch up on some of the other TV I have been taping as House and Fringe will not be on or reruns.

The VP debate was interesting. Palin didnt do as bad as I had expected, but it still would have been nice to have her actually answer a direct question. She was asked about 12-15 direct questions and only really answered 2. Biden did pretty well I think. He needed to hit home some more of his points and elaborate a little more on some of his answers, but I still think he outshined Palin by quite a bit.

Only 29 more days until we are done with political ads!!

Politics

Well, one debate down, nothing has been resolved. I am looking forward to the VP debate tomorrow, I hope Palin stands there all night refusing to answer questions. That or rambling on incoherently all night, kind of like she does now when asked a question. It will be interesting either way.

Happy Soxtober!!

What a game last night. John Danks and Jim Thome are my new heroes! I do have to give credit to the Twins and Blackburn, they played really well.

Hopefully we can play well against the Rays, we didnt during the regular season, but this isnt the regular season now.

Friday

Well, its Friday. I still have my cold but am going to visit some family this weekend anyways. The cold isnt bothering me too much.

Being a Chicago sports fan I like to see my teams win. The White Sox right now have no fire, no desire and if they dont find a way to win a bare minimum of two games this weekend against Cleveland there will be no playoffs. On the bright side, they could have the fact that they led the division for 98% of the year. Unforunately in baseball its the last 1% of leading the division that matters. At least we have the Cubs.

Wednesday programming

I watch a lot of TV, probably way too much by a lot of people's standards, but I like TV. Last night was a new episode of Bones, which is one of my favorite shows on TV right now and season premiers of both Criminal Minds and CSI NY.

Bones had a usual strong episode where they managed to bring back an old face, in what I hope will be a recurring role for Zack as I always liked his character. Overall it was a good episode, I would give it a B+.

Criminal Minds is also one of my favorites. The one thing about the show is that it goes through ruts in the writing and will go a couple of episodes sometimes before having another really good episode. In my opinion each show should have two episodes each year that are great, the premier and finale. For Criminal Minds the premier was a little disappointing. I found it very by the script and was very easy to recognize where they were taking us. Overall, I would give it C+ just because it was so predictable which shouldnt happen after a summer of being able to write and change the script.

CSI NY was also a continuation of the story line from the season finale from last year. It was well made and took a couple of small turns that made it more interesting to watch. Gary Sinise's Mac Taylor is one of my favorite characters on TV right now and he was the perfect guy to play Taylor. I was satisfied with the episode, I like to see more of the side characters or Hawkes and Lindsay, but any episode that focuses more on Mac is alright in my book. Overall, I would give the episiode an A-.

Happy Watching!

41 days and counting

Well, only 41 more days until the election is here. Then we can finally stop seeing all those damn political ads. I am already very tired of seeing them all. Franken, Coleman, Obama, McPalin. I am voting for two of the aforementioned people, but that doesnt mean that I want to continue to see their ads on TV.

Personally, I dont pay any attention to any of them anyways. Even the "honest" ads are really only partially true anyways. Its more about mud slinging now that actual problems. The one candidate that I have seen actually run good ads so far is Ashwin Madia who is running for US Representative. Unfortunately, he is running in another district and I cannot vote for him. I still hope he wins.

Is it just me, or does it seem that for each day that passes is there another stupid thing that happened in Alaska ( and approved or lobbied for by Palin) come out? The other day it was her town charging women for their own rape kits, now its the stupid bridge to nowhere that became the road of uselessness. I read that even the locals there dont think the road is needed and will most likely not use it. What a great use of $233M dollars Sarah. Way to stand against the useless Washington establishment and fight against pork barrel ear marks. Make sure you mention the useless road when you keep giving your line about being against the bridge to nowhere.

John McCain use to stand for something also. Eight years ago had he beaten W in the primaries, I may have voted for him. Now, he has just become a nonsensical moron who cannot make up his mind on whether to be a puppet of the right wing to win some votes, or to be a puppet to big oil and wall street to keep his pocket full.

I am an Obama supporter, have been since he first announced he was running. He may not be the perfect candidate for president, but no politician really is most of the time. Obama to me seems the only real option if we want to have public schools, health care, an active strong economy, or any respect around the world.

Hello

This blog will be for me to rant, rave and generally complain about everything that I see fit. Including but not limited to life, politics, sports and people. Have fun reading, I will certainly have fun writing!
